Hurricane Arthur

Hurricane Arthur...where the heck did you come from?  It was all quiet them BOOM...I'm frantically packing, kissing the wife and kids goodbye and heading to the Outer Banks.
It's a 4 hour drive...at least it's a pretty drive.
That's the reporter I worked with.  When you do hurricanes it is at least 12-14 hour working days...sometimes longer.
And let me tell you, the view from our live truck stunk....that's the competitor from Raleigh.  Somehow we always end up at the same hotel.
Not the worst place I've ever done a live shot.
They upped the storm to at Category 2.  100mph winds....THUMBS UP!
So how do you do lighting in those high winds....bungee cords.
We became buddies with a lot of the people on the beach.  This family from New York let us use their balcony for live shots.

Stupid sand crabs....look to much like spiders.
Live shots before the storm.
Waiting for the next live shot.  Rain gear on!
I'm the blue dot....not looking good :-)
Arthur finally showed up.  Luckily I found a good spot where the wind was blocked and go some good video.

The second home during the storm.  Old, beat up, van 6
This was the crew at the Outer Banks.  My hats off to Melissa who 'luckily' had the week off of work so she could watch the kids.  I love you!
